Etna excursion

This excursion on Etna will leave you speechless: an adventure tour with an exciting itinerary where we will discover the highest volcano in Europe.

The road we will take to reach the peaks of the volcano is the famous Mareneve (recognized by National Geographic as one of the 70 most suggestive routes to go by bike).

Along the route that will take us to the north side of Etna, one of our expert guides will explain the stories and legends of the Etna villages and the volcano.

Before starting our excursion, we will make a brief stop at the refuge (1500mt), here we will show you the itinerary while sipping a good coffee and for those who do not have one, we will rent trekking shoes for free.

Our Etna adventure begins with a visit to the evocative eruption of 27 October 2002, which destroyed the ski resorts of Piano Provenzana and a large part of the Ragabo pine forest. Continuing along paths that wind through the undergrowth between pines, birches and lava flows, we will reach landscapes and the peaks of the side craters that offer breathtaking scenery.

The last stop on our Etna tour is the Grotta dei Ladroni, a lava flow tunnel where equipped with helmets and torches, we will go inside to discover its formation and history.

Lunch Break

At the end of the excursion we will have lunch at the Chalet Clan dei Ragazzi; (1500mt), where you can choose between a €10 menu that includes a sandwich of your choice, drink (water, Coca-Cola, wine or beer) and dessert; a €15 menu that includes bruschetta, a first course of your choice, drink, and coffee.

Alcantara Gorges

After lunch, we will head to a place where mother nature has given her best: the Alcantara Gorges. Along the way, we will pass through ancient Sicilian villages including Castiglione di Sicilia, famous for the cultivation of the vineyards from which the Etna DOC is produced.

Once at the Alcantara Gorges, we will enter the heart of the suggestive basalt gorges which, due to the erosion of the river, have taken on unique shapes over the years making them famous all over the world.
